Why Escadrille?

The owner of Café Escadrille, Robert Murray, also owns the ICE Prison/Field Office at 1000 District Ave.

He has been silent on the abuses in his building, and has not aided the Town’s efforts to inspect for zoning & safety violations. We’ll keep visiting his restaurant until he’s ready to face the conversation.

For documentation and additional details on Murray's involvement, check out our documentation page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I park?

Down the street in front of the Burlington Ice Palace. This is Town property; you will not be towed.

Do I really have to dress up?

Despite the name, black tie is not required. We do encourage you to dress like you're attending a nice dinner (i.e., like you could be an Escadrille customer). This is, however, completely optional.

Is this a boycott?

No, this is a protest intended to raise awareness first and foremost. We encourage individuals to use their best descretion to determine the most effective action available to them.

How dare you hurt the workers' livelihoods by protesting here!
  1. That's not even a question.
  2. We're aware that we risk harming Escadrille staff financially with this protest. We've reached out to staff with our contact information, and we will help them access resources should they be impacted.
You're hurting a small businessman/but he donates to Little League/he's reasonable just talk to him/but-but-but Supremacy Clause!
  1. That's still not a question.
  2. We've done our homework on this one. Head over to our documentation page to see our research and rationale.
  3. For all other accusations, please see our FYI.
